Choosing a commercial voice over talent in a professional recording studio

Choosing the right commercial voice talent for your brand can be harder than you think. On face value, energy, tone and accent are all important, but the nuance a voice actor can provide you is the difference between a good read and a GREAT read.

As as award winning Australian voice actor, I've helped brands bring their scripts to life, extracting from their copy exactly the type of story they want to tell.

  1. Define your brand's personality and vocal type

    - Is your brand commercial, corporate or conversational?

    - What type of accent or character voice do you need? i.e Australian female voice actor

    - What is the age range? What's your audience demographic?

  1. Studio quality specs

    - Without a quality recording, say goodbye to flawless audio. Check the voice artist you choose has the right specs!

    - Fast turnaround. How soon do you need your voice over?

    - Sound proof room or both is a no brainer, and a good quality mic and recording technique is essential

    - How are you connecting with the voice actor? Check they have Source-Connect capability or Zoom for any directed sessions

  1. Range and direction

    - Listening to demos can inform you of the voice actor's ability to explore range within a script. Is their range dynamic and are they adaptable?

  1. Usage and licensing

    - What is the medium? (TV, Radio, E-Learning, On-line)

    - What is the market? (Local, national, international)

    - What is the duration? (1 year, monthly or in perpetuity)

    - If you are requiring a directed session, a further fee should be applied.

  1. Expectations for booking a professional voice actor

Be clear about your expectations up front when booking a voice over regarding payment, usage, session fees and audio requirements. If you're ready to elevate your next project, get in touch and let's collaborate!
